Dreamin' of Cruising (C. Long) Written after a rare Gig Harbor snowstorm.  I took some pictures of the boat covered with snow and posted them on Facebook in an album with this title.

Goin' Through the Chairs (C. Long) For those unfamiliar with yacht club protocol, the phrase refers to the process one goes through as an officer.  It’s a four to five-year commitment, depending on the club, beginning as either Fleet Captain or Rear Commodore, then becoming Vice-, then Commodore.  Each “chair” has its own set of tasks, which differ by club, until at last you become a “P/C” or Past Commodore.

Sample Lyrics

The Fleet Captain's Lament (C. Long)  In almost every club, the Fleet Captain is in charge of organizing club cruises.  It’s pretty much a thankless job.  This song is for my brother, who was my F/C when I served as Commodore.

Sailor With a Power Boat (C. Long) Diane and I have referred to ourselves this way since we “went to the Dark Side” in 2007.   We still consider ourselves sailors—who happen to own a powerboat!

Way Down Here  (K. Chesney, T. Martin, C. Beathard) I wanted to record this wonderful Kenny Chesney song on the B.O.A.T. album, but we ran out of space.  I’m pleased to be able to include it here.

Don't Come to Seattle (S. Chalicki) Stanislove originally wrote this one as a sort of homage to Seattle’s resident curmudgeon, Emmett Watson, back in the 80’s.  His current version is quite different from this original arrangement and has several more verses.  Check it out at www.stanislove.com.

All You Need is a Boat (D. Calhoun) A fun song by friend and fellow singer/songwriter Dave Calhoun.  Dave is the premier Jimmy Buffett tribute artist in the Puget Sound area but he also writes a lot of his own material as well.  Visit Dave’s website at www.tropzone.com.

Sample Lyrics

Onshore Flo (C. Long) Here in the Pacific Northwest, our “natural air conditioning” in the summer is provided by the phenomenon known as “onshore flow.”  Cool marine air from the Pacific often invades Western Washington at night, then burns off the next day, keeping the temperatures comfortable.  But sometimes the marine layer is too thick to burn off and “Flo” sticks around all day, giving us gray, dreary, overcast days.

Sample Lyrics

Living in the Northwest (C. Long) I have a cousin in Michigan who’s a boater, too.  But his boating season lasts a scant four months.  I wanted to write a song that compared our very different concepts of boating and, at the same time, take a good natured shot at Easterners who can’t imagine how we can live out here where “it rains all the time.”  Ah, if they only knew!

Sample Lyrics

Sucia Sunset (C. Long) An homage to our early days of cruising, when just making it as far as the San Juan Islands was a major accomplishment.
